You Are Not Almost Enough. You Are Already His.

Can I be honest with you for a second? Because I think a lot of us foster parents are carrying something we don't say out loud. It sounds something like this: "I'm not doing enough. I'm not enough. I'm a mistake. I'm a nuisance."

We carry it while we fill out paperwork, show up to visits, absorb meltdowns, and love kids who sometimes can't let us love them yet. We carry it while we pray at night and wonder if God even hears us anymore.

That voice? That is not conviction. That is an accusation. And it is not coming from your Father.

Conviction says: hey, let's course correct — I've got something better for you.

Accusation says: you are the problem.

God does not speak to His children in shame. The enemy, though? That's his entire playlist.

Romans 8:38–39: Nothing separates you from the love of God. Not your exhaustion. Not the placement that fell apart. Not the days you lost your patience. Not the version of you that stumbled before you even finished the thought. Nothing. That's not a participation trophy. That's bedrock.

Isaiah 43:4: "You are precious and honored in my sight, and I love you." Not will be. You are. Present tense. Active. Already decided.

Philippians 1:6: He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion. He started this. He's not watching you perform to see if you earn the finish line. He is the finish line — and He already put His name on you.

Try this today, when the "I'm not enough" thought shows up — and it will — don't argue with it. Replace it. Out loud if you have to: "I am precious and honored in His sight. He started this work. He finishes what He starts."

Your brain will catch up to your mouth eventually. Scripture and science both agree on that one.

You are not a nuisance to the God who knit you together and called it good.

You are not a mistake to the Savior who stayed on the cross — specifically for you.

You showed up for a child the world walked past.

You stayed when staying was hard.

You prayed when you couldn't feel anything.

That is not someone who is not enough. That is someone being held by a God who is more than enough — and He's not letting go.
